Trauma & PTSD Therapy in Edina, MN

Trauma can continue to affect how you think, feel, and relate to others long after a difficult experience has ended. You may find yourself feeling constantly on edge, emotionally overwhelmed, disconnected, or struggling with memories that are difficult to leave behind.

These experiences can affect daily life in ways that are not always obvious, making it harder to feel present, safe, or fully engaged in the things that matter most to you.

When trauma continues to affect daily life

Trauma doesn't always stay in the past. It can shape the way you experience yourself, your relationships, and the world around you. Sometimes the effects are obvious. Other times, they quietly influence how safe, connected, or present you feel from one day to the next.

Many of the ways you've learned to cope may have once helped you get through difficult experiences. Over time, though, they can begin to stand in the way of living the life you want. Therapy can help you understand these patterns and begin moving forward at a pace that feels right for you.

If this sounds familiar...

Feeling constantly on edge

Struggling to feel safe

Avoiding reminders of what happened

Feeling disconnected from yourself

Difficulty trusting others

Always waiting for something to go wrong

Sometimes these responses become so familiar that they begin to feel like part of who you are.

They made sense when you needed them. They don't have to define your future.

How therapy can help

Trauma can make it difficult to feel safe, even when the danger has passed. Therapy provides a space to better understand how past experiences may still be affecting your life today and begin moving toward healing at a pace that feels manageable.

Together, we'll work to help you reconnect with a greater sense of safety, confidence, and control. The goal isn't to erase what happened; It's to reduce the hold it has on your life so you can feel more present, more connected, and more like yourself again.

EMDR Therapy

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy that helps the brain reprocess traumatic experiences so they no longer have the same emotional intensity or hold over your daily life. Many people find that memories become less distressing, allowing them to move forward without feeling defined by the past.

When it's appropriate for your needs, EMDR is integrated into therapy at a pace that feels safe and manageable. Not every client begins with EMDR, and together we'll decide when the time is right.
